Efficient Use of Packing Materials We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint by significantly decreasing the use of plastic and utilizing packing materials as efficiently as possible. As part of this effort, we have already reduced the number of items or packaging containing virgin plastics to 43.3% and decreased the use of virgin plastics in packaging to 34.9%.Minimizing Plastic in Inbound Freight For inbound freight, we minimize plastic packaging and prioritize the use of paper packaging, reusing it whenever possible. For example, in our Ede sample warehouse, we reuse shredded cardboard boxes.Reusing and Recycling Outbound Packaging For outbound freight, we maximize the reuse of existing packaging materials. Our goal is to ensure that 100% of our outbound packaging materials are either recycled or FSC certified. This commitment means a significant portion of our packaging is now more sustainable, made from natural, recycled materials, or bioplastics.Recycling Initiatives for Plastic Packaging When we use plastic packaging that we cannot reuse internally, we ensure it is recycled or transferred to a third party for further recycling—a practice we've maintained since 2010.Sustainable Paper Promotion Materials For paper promotional materials like catalogs and folders, we use sustainable or certified recycled paper. In 2020 and 2021, we offered digital catalogs for our end-of-year collections, enhancing the interactive experience while reducing the need for printed versions. For our 2022 "More Than Gifts" catalog, we provided both digital and printed options, noting a decline in printed catalog demand. This trend prompts us to reconsider our approach to paper usage in the future, as printing fewer catalogs positively impacts our sustainable packaging solutions.Reducing CO2 Emissions We strive for maximum utilization and consolidation of container loading (94%) to reduce CO2 emissions from our inbound freight. Additionally, by partnering with environmentally conscious forwarders, we lower the CO2 emissions of our outbound freight. Our sustainable packaging solutions reflect our dedication to minimizing environmental impact, promoting recycling and reuse, and supporting a more sustainable future.
